Maurizio Fornero
Maurizio Fornero graduated in Organ and Organ Composition, Piano and Harpsichord at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin and graduated with honors in harpsichord and historical keyboards at the Conservatorio Antonio Vivaldi of Alessandria. Since his early age he attended numerous national and international artistic experiences by reaching, as the only Italian representative, the finals at the Bolton European Organ Festival (GB).
By specializing himself in the philological production of the ancient repertoire, he has for years performed an intense concert activity as a soloist as well as in chamber ensembles that led him to perform in prestigious concert halls, in national and international festivals of ancient and baroque music such as "Via stellae" of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Mafestival of Bruges (Belgium), International Festival of The Hague and Utrecht (Holland), "L’altro suono – Unione Musicale" of Turin, "Festival Monteverdiano" of Cremona, Festival Mito, Bologna Festival, Froville, Elbphilarmonie Hamburg, Musikfestspiele Dresden, Berlin Philharmonie, Salle Gaveau of Paris, Concert Hall in the Forbidden City of Beijing, Qintai Concert Hall Wuhan ... He plays as harpsichordist since several years with the violinist Amandine Beyer and Gli Incogniti, the soprano Simone Kermes, the violinist Enrico Casazza with La Magnifica Comunità and I Musici di Santa Pelagia with whom he has performed numerous concerts in European and Asian international festivals by distinguishing himself in his refined interpretations of soloist and continuist as the multiple appreciations of the critics recognised him: "an eclectic and elegant interpreter of baroque music".
He has participated in numerous live radio broadcasts on national (Rai Radio Tre, Rai Filodiffusione) and European radio (Radio 3 Nazionale Belgium, Radio Classica Spagna). He collaborates as an organist and cembalist with the National Symphonic Orchestra and the Turin Regio Theatre. Further to the experience gained in the Turin lyric institution with Bruno Casoni and Claudio Marino Moretti, he founded the children’ s choir in Mondovì with whom he undertook a profitable concert activity in Italy and abroad. He has recorded numerous ancient and chamber music compact discs (XVI,XVII,XVIII authors) published by Stradivarius, Opus 111, Niccolò, Syrius, Elegia, Urania, Passacaille, CPO and Sony international. He is also the founder of the instrumental ensemble "I Musici di Santa Pelagia", with whom he recorded, together with the vocal ensemble "Festina Lente" of Rome, the Mass for the SS. Christmas by Alessandro Scarlatti, the Oratorio Santa Pelagia by Alessandro Stradella (Stradivarius), the organ compositions by G.F. Haendel (Elegia records) and lately the concerts for cello and orchestra and the sonatas for cello and harpsichord by Carlo Graziani (Urania and Passacaille), by obtaining wide public and critical appreciations for the originality of the rediscovery of great music and authors of great artistic value. His interpretations have been highlighted inside specific classical music magazines (Orfeo, Amadeus, Classic Voice ...) and in famous national and foreign newspapers (La Stampa, La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung …)
By being an expert designated by the Commission for Musical Orientation Activities of the Piedmont Region, he is currently a member of the Regional Convention "Intrecci Barocchi" which aims to create high-level musical events in a perspective of managerial and artistic synergy. Teacher of theory and practice of the Basso Continuo at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Turin from 2005 to 2017, he is a teacher at the Conservatory of Music of Cuneo and artistic director of the Academia Montis Regalis Foundation.
